President Obama and various members of Congress have called for an investigation of Russian hacking and its impact on the 2016 presidential election. During the campaign, the Democratic National Committee was hacked, and many of its emails leaked via WikiLeaks — an act that some elements within the CIA believe was part of a Russian effort to help Donald Trump win the election. While no reliable source is suggesting at this point that hacking actually altered the results of the election, an investigation is still warranted.
